What is SGO?

Stained Glass Overlay (SGO) is a decorative glass process that brings the warmth and beauty of stained glass into your home while providing versatility and safety. SGO uses a unique overlay process to bond mylar film and real lead as well as beveled jewels to a solid sheet of glass - including tempered, safety or insulated panes. The result is a seamless. one-piece construction that keeps water out and temperature controlled air in. Greater design intricacies can be achieved than with traditional cut glass, without the need for defacing supports. With SGO, creative possibilities are limited only by the imagination.

Having been involved with Stained Glass Overlay since 1985 as owners of an SGO Design Studio, we are located in the heart of the Willamette Valley, just minutes south of Oregon's largest metropolitan area, Portland. We have designed and fabricated hundreds of windows in the Residential, Commercial, and Religious market.

The Design Process

The design approach is one of bringing together the desires of you the client, and the design staff of SGO Design Studio. The process starts with a mutual discussion of your desires, from which we will generate an estimate. With a small art deposit this will be followed with a scaled drawing of your total project. Upon your approval a deposit of fifty percent (50%) of the total project will required, with the balance due upon completion.

SGO Design Studio can provide designs in a number of ways:

A. From a range of standard designs.

B. As a result of a partnership with a designer and/or client.

C. As a sub-contractor working with the architect and/or builder.

In the latter cases, early consultation is recommended.

Architects, Designers and Specifiers find that working with our SGO products allows the versatility to "Create a Mood" and still have the structural integrity demanded by code. SGO is the creative solution to the most challenging decorative or architectural situation.
